The secret to cultivating a mindful classroom starts with a single seed… YOU!

"Cultivating a Mindful Classroom " is designed exclusively for educators who have begun their own mindfulness journey and want to now bring it into the classroom! Discover the power of mindfulness in education and learn practical strategies to create a nurturing and focused learning environment. Immerse yourself in guided meditation, explore mindfulness-based teaching techniques, and gain the tools to enhance emotional well-being in your students. From incorporating mindfulness into daily class routines to fostering empathy and resilience, this workshop will empower you to create a mindful classroom that supports the holistic development of your students.

Cultivating mindfulness in the classroom, both for our students and ourselves, has become more important than ever. It is a practice that shares striking similarities with the process of nurturing a seed. Just as we carefully tend to a seed, providing it with the right conditions for growth, we can nurture mindfulness within ourselves and others, allowing it to blossom into a transformative force.

Over the 2 days, we will explore various aspects of how mindfulness can be nurtured in a classroom or educational setting. A brief overview includes:

🌱 Preparing the Ground

  • Introduction to mindfulness and its benefits in the classroom.

  • Exploring the concept of cultivating mindfulness through nurturing practices.

  • Reflecting on your own personal practices and beliefs related to mindfulness in life/education.

🌱 Planting the Seed

  • Designing a physical space that supports mindfulness and promotes a sense of calm.

  • Establishing daily routines and rituals that cultivate everyday mindful awareness in students.

  • Strategies for incorporating mindfulness into classroom activities and transitions.

🌱 Watering and Nourishing

  • Nurturing & deepening your personal mindfulness practices as the educator first.

  • Techniques to help students cultivate self-awareness, including various breathing techniques, body scans, movement, and journaling.

  • Integrating mindful reflective practices into daily teaching routines.

🌱. Growth and Development

  • Teaching students mindfulness-based techniques for managing emotions.

  • Creative ways to engage students with mindfulness including through art, sound and nature.

  • Supporting students in navigating stress and challenging situations mindfully.

🌱. Cultivating a Sustainable Mindfulness Community

  • Engaging parents and families in mindfulness practices and promoting home-school partnerships.

  • Establishing a supportive network for teachers to share experiences and resources.

  • Creating an action plan for sustaining and expanding mindfulness practices beyond the workshop.

This framework allows for a comprehensive exploration of mindfulness in the classroom, ensuring a deep understanding and practical application of cultivating mindfulness.

This program is ideal for educators of students of all age groups, who have begun their own mindfulness journey and want to now bring it into the classroom, and are passionate about promoting student well-being and using mindfulness in embedded ways in the classroom and learning program.

All participants will receive handouts on each of the activities we explore, plus strategies on how to use them with students.

FAQs

Who is this weekend program for?

"Cultivating a Mindful Classroom" is suitable for educators who have begun their own mindfulness journey and want to now bring it into the classroom.

The program is ideal for educators who want to explore how their own mindfulness practices can be nurtured and grown over time into a sustainable practice.

Perhaps you have already introduced mindfulness into the classroom, but are now looking for ways to sustain the practices in creative and meaningful ways. Perhaps you are very new to mindfulness and looking for ways to introduce it into the classroom… either way…this weekend is ideal for you!

Do I need to have a mindfulness practice already?

Mindfulness is an embodied practice, and therefore before we bring it into the classroom, we should have an understanding how mindfulness ‘feels’ for ourselves. It is our intention to support your current mindfulness practices, and to deepen existing awareness strategies for yourself before your students. It would therefore support this embodiment of learning, if participants have participated in some introductory mindfulness training before. While a regular practice is ideal, it is not expected.

If you haven’t done any mindfulness training, you may like to join our next Mindful Teacher Online Program starting in August. # Please contact us for a discount if you decide to do this.

Can I claim this program as a tax deduction?

Yes, Teachers and educators working with children are able to claim our courses as professional learning for full tax deductions. Please check with your tax agent.
